Modern Bobble Rainbow Blanket
A cosy crochet blanket full of texture, colour, and modern style

Designed with simple stitches and a bold colour layout, this striking bobble blanket is both fun to crochet and rewarding to finish. Raised contrasting bobbles create beautiful texture and a playful modern look, adding warmth and personality to any space.

This pattern is written for advanced beginners and includes clear step-by-step instructions, yarn quantities, a full colour recipe, and a detailed photo tutorial to guide you through the process of creating contrasting colour bobbles.

Written as a baby blanket, the pattern also includes instructions for easily adapting it into a sofa throw, bed throw, or larger blanket.

This rainbow edition builds on my original beginner-friendly Modern Bobble Blanket design, introducing colour changes and techniques that help the bobbles “pop” against the background. Some previous experience with bobble stitches and carrying yarn will be helpful.

Materials

Approx 325g / 11.5oz DK yarn

(approx 23g / 0.8oz for each Colour Block)

I used Stylecraft special DK 100% Acrylic in the following colours:

Finished blanket measures approx 69cm x 80cm, ideal for a baby blanket or lap blanket. Instructions are given to allow you to re-size your blanket – go large with a sofa throw or bedcover.

This is a rainbow version of my easy and quick modern bobble blanket which was designed for beginners in just one colour.
