New Pattern Test! Granny Mandala Blanket by Melu Crochet

Tester time!

I’m looking for testers for my brand-new Granny Mandala Blanket pattern, and I’d love you to join me!

This colourful circular blanket is worked from the centre out using a repeating granny pattern and finished with a lovely bobble border. It’s designed to be easily adjustable, with 6 different size options, from a Baby blanket right through to a huge Statement size.

Choose Your Size

There are six finished sizes to choose from:

Baby: approx. 86cm / 33¾in diameter
Lap: approx. 116cm / 45¾in diameter
Throw: approx. 147cm / 57¾in diameter
Large Throw: approx. 178cm / 70in diameter
Extra Large Throw: approx. 209cm / 82¼in diameter
Statement: approx. 240cm / 94½in diameter

These measurements include the border and are approximate.

I’m particularly keen to have testers making a good selection of the different sizes, as your finished measurements and yarn usage will help me check my estimates before the pattern is released.

Yarn

I made my Granny Mandala Blanket using Hobbii Daily Stitch Acrylic XL, an Aran/Medium (Size 4), 100% acrylic yarn. Each skein contains approximately 100g / 3.5oz and 200m / 218yds.

The blanket uses a repeating five-colour sequence. I would find it really useful if testers follow the five colour A-E sequence, but you are absolutely welcome to choose your own colours. I can’t wait to see how different colour combinations transform the design!

I used:

Colour A: Curry (24)
Colour B: Blue (13)
Colour C: Bubblegum Pink (31)
Colour D: Navy Blue (14)
Colour E: Teal (18)

I used Colour D for my bobble border, but you are welcome to use a contrasting colour instead.

Can I Use a Different Yarn?

YESSSS!

The pattern has been designed using an Aran/Medium (Size 4) yarn, but you are welcome to use another yarn weight with a suitable hook.

Using a thinner or thicker yarn will affect the finished diameter, drape and amount of yarn required. As the Granny Mandala Blanket is worked from the centre out, you can simply continue working until your blanket reaches your preferred size.

If you are substituting yarn, please compare the weight and metre/yardage of your skeins or balls with the recommended yarn when estimating how much you will need.

Why Do I Need Testers?

I love getting all of my patterns tested to make sure everything is just right, including stitch counts, finished measurements, yarn estimates and clear, easy-to-follow instructions.

This means that when you choose to crochet a Melu Crochet pattern, you can do so with confidence, knowing that it has been carefully checked by real crocheters.

For this particular test, I’m also really interested in seeing how the pattern works across all six sizes, so your finished measurements and actual yarn usage will be particularly valuable.

What I Need From You

If you are selected to test the pattern, I’ll ask you to:

  • Provide constructive and honest feedback on the clarity and ease of following the pattern
  • Let me know about any errors, typos or stitch-count issues you find
  • Keep a record of the yarn brand, name, weight and colours you use
  • Keep track of how much yarn you use for each colour and for the border
  • Measure the diameter of your blanket before and after adding the border
  • Send me progress photos and clear final photos of your finished blanket in good, natural light
  • Complete your chosen blanket and submit your feedback by 7th November 2026

If you are using partial skeins, weighing them before you begin and again when you finish is a great way to work out exactly how much yarn you have used.

Want to Join Me?

If you’d like to test the Granny Mandala Blanket, please fill in the application form below and I’ll get back to the selected testers soon.
