Melu Crochet: Free Elbobblio Bobble Granny Square crochet pattern

My boy has taken a shine to this square and has commissioned me to do him a blanket! I love making things for my children and I’ve been trying to suggest something for him for years but he just hasn’t wanted anything. So I’m very excited about this! He has chosen his colours and they just happen to be Hogwarts themed so even better.

Update!!

Here is the finished blanket, I am so pleased that he likes it.

I used approximately 400g of each colour, with a 5.5mm hook.

I joined using the continuous join as you go method, with the squares laid out like this:

I used Stitch Fiddle to help me work out the order for each colour, it really helped to have this to refer to.

Just before I finished the blanket he asked me to personalise it for him. I adapted the ‘E’ from my A-Z Bobble Stitch Personalised Squares pattern and added it at the bottom of the blanket.

I have put the pattern on my website for free so that you can join in making squares with me, I think I might need a little motivation when I have done 40! (in the end it was 63!!) And it’s been so lovely seeing people make my free patterns over the last few weeks it feels like it could spread a bit of happiness and fun too. So who’s up for it?!

I enjoyed the pattern so much that I went on to make a blanket in one large Elbobblio granny square.

This has been tested and has been released as a full written pattern with colour recipe and charts available on Etsy, Love Crafts and is available to buy now from Ravelry!
