Materials
7mm hook
400g Bulky/Chunky/12 ply yarn
Needle for sewing in ends

Size
Finished blanket measures approximately 75 X 90cm or 30 X 35 Inches
Adjusting the size of the blanket
To alter the width of the blanket, add or subtract chains from the foundation
chain; Chain needs to be a number that ends in 5 and then +1.
Tension
3 ‘open shells’ =10cm (4 inches) pattern will work if tension is not exactly the same.
Abbreviations
sts stitches
Open shell 2 treble, ch1, 2 treble into the same stitch or chain space

Pattern
Chain 66, turn
Row 1: ExDc into 2nd chain from hook, continue to ExDc in each stitch (65st), Ch2, turn.
The ch2 at the end of each row is a turning chain and does not count as a stitch throughout the pattern.

Row 2: Tr into each of the next 5 st, *skip 2, open shell in the next st (or into chain space of open shell from previous row), skip 2, Tr in each of the next 5st repeat from * 5 times (65st) ch2, turn
Row 3: Tr into each of the next 5 st, *skip 2, open shell into chain space of open shell from previous row, skip 2, Tr in each of the next 5st repeat from * 5 times (65st) ch2, turn

Row 4: Tr into each of the next 2st, bobble in the next st, Tr in each of the next 2 st *skip 2, open shell into chain space of open shell from previous row, sk 2, Tr in each of the next 2st, bobble in the next st, Tr in each of the next 2 st repeat from * 5 times (65st) ch2, turn
Row 5: Tr into each of the next 5 st, *skip 2, open shell into chain space of open shell from previous row, skip 2, Tr in each of the next 5st repeat from * 5 times (65st) ch2, turn
Repeat Rows 2-5 until required length
Last Row: ExDc into each of the next 5 st, *ExDc into the top of the next 2 Tr that form the open shell, ExDc into the chain space of the open shell, ExDc into the top of the next 2 Tr that form the open shell, ExDc into each of the next 5 st, repeat from * 5 times (65st)

Edging
Round 1: Join yarn in any corner, ch1, Dc in each stitch evenly around each side of the blanket, with 3Dc in each corner, sl st to join to the first Dc.

Round 2: (Join new colour if required) ch1, ExDc in each stitch evenly around each side of the blanket, with 3ExDc in each corner, sl st to join to the first ExDc.
Repeat round 2 until required size
Last round: Ch1, Dc in each stitch evenly around each side of the blanket, with 3Dc in each corner, sl st to join to the first Dc, cut yarn.
Weave in ends, that’s it, you’re finished!
