Once you have worked out how to hold your hook and yarn, you are ready to start to crochet! A slip knot is the starting point for most crochet projects, there are many ways to create a slip knot, here is an easy method:
1 Hold the tail end

2 Wrap working end of yarn over

3 Grab working end with hook

4 Pull through onto hook

The loop on your hook should be secure but not tight, adjust this by pulling the working end to tighten and the tail end to loosen.

Practice making a slip knot and adjusting it whilst it’s on your hook.
