New Tester Call! Crazy Hexi Cool Top by Melu Crochet

I’m looking for a lovely group of crochet pattern testers to help test my new Crazy Hexi Cool Top pattern! If you enjoy making hexagon garments but fancy something a little different, this could be the perfect project for you. The design uses elongated hexagons and a combination of solid stitches and granny stitch to create a beautifully textured fabric with plenty of drape. It’s a no-sew pattern with a customisable neckline, making it both enjoyable to crochet and easy to wear.

The pattern includes 5 inclusive sizes and 11 length options, allowing testers to create anything from a shorter summer top to a longer tunic-style version. It has been written with plenty of support throughout, including detailed instructions, a stitch chart, step-by-step photos, construction images and sizing guidance. The sample shown was made in Lion Brand Coboo, but the design also lends itself well to yarn substitutions, so I’d love to see how it looks in different fibres and colours.

If you’ve seen my Crazy Hexi Cool Cardi, you may recognise the stitch pattern.

That cardigan was the first design where I combined sections of solid stitches with classic granny stitch to create a fabric that is both beautifully textured and practical to wear. The solid sections add structure, while the granny stitch keeps the fabric light, breathable and full of drape.

I loved the effect so much that I knew I wanted to explore it further, and this top felt like the perfect project.

The combination creates a pretty fabric with wonderful movement while maintaining the relaxing rhythm that makes granny stitch so enjoyable to crochet.

Why Do I Need Testers?

This way, when you choose to crochet a Melu Crochet pattern, you can do so with confidence, knowing that your time and effort will result in something truly beautiful and satisfying to make.

Honest Feedback!

My goal is to make my patterns as clear and accessible as possible, so I welcome all feedback, even the slightly awkward stuff! If something doesn’t make sense, tell me. If you find yourself wondering, “Is this really supposed to go here?” or “I have no idea what this means!”, take a screenshot or a photo and let me know. Chances are, if you’re confused, someone else will be too!

Since my patterns are written in English and sold internationally, there’s always a chance that a bit of Bristolian slang (I’m from Bristol, UK!) or a turn of phrase might sneak in, or that I’ve used a crochet term that a beginner might not recognize.
