So inspired by my lovely new yarn to make my new design for my Granny Zigzag rainbow blanket. I was lucky enough to have a new yarn shop open nearby so HAD to go and have a look! I bought these vibrant colours of Scheepjes Chunky Monkey, which is a beautifully soft aran weight yarn.

I have used the Granny stitch and my favourite Bobble stitch to create a rainbow blanket that is fun to make and looks striking with the different colours running through it. These colours are so lovely in the sunshine 🌞

Bobbles in the sunshine 🌞

Sorry about the mess but I wanted to show you this progress pic and how many ends there AREN’T! I’ve worked this pattern out to minimise sewing in ends because I just don’t think we should have to it 🤣 it’s with my brilliant testers now so hopefully I’ll get this to you soon!! 🙌⛔️🪡

This blanket pattern has two options, the ‘Traditional’ method has been written to be made in the traditional way; by cutting the yarn at the end of each row, and joining your next colour), this is an easy, simple method of crocheting and will work well, but will result in many ends to sew in when you finish.

I prefer to have fewer ends to sew in and therefore have developed the ‘Fewer Ends Method’ to reduce them. This will require you to turn your blanket and work differently than usual. You should decide if you want to crochet the ‘Traditional’ pattern OR the ‘Fewer Ends Method’ pattern before you start.

You can steam block when you have finished…
My testers have thoroughly checked the pattern and have helped me to make it easy to read and understand. It is a beginner patter, beginners may find the Fewer Ends Method a bit tricky but if you follow the Traditional method you’ll be fine! Both methods will look the same when finished.
I give you the colour recipe and amounts of yarn you will need.

There is a photo tutorial included to help you with the bobble stitch which is crocheted as you make the blanket and therefore won’t shed or fall off.
